Logan Rains is a political strategist and campaign professional, working to make North Carolina better one election at a time. Logan is a lifelong North Carolina native and glad to call Raleigh his new home. Logan has a BA in Political Science from Elon University and since graduating in 2014, he has worked on various levels of federal, state, and local campaigns supporting Democratic candidates and progressive causes. Along with serving the Wake Young Democrats as an At-Large Board Member, he also serves the Young Democrats of North Carolina as the Rural Caucus Chairperson. In his free time, Logan enjoys reading, cooking, and socializing with friends.
Amy is an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Musical Theatre at William Peace University. She holds a BFA from the State University of New York at Fredonia and an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. A member of the North Carolina Museum of Art's College Advisory Panel, she is active in the Triangle's arts and arts education communities. Professor White's primary research, which was co-presented at the Sorbonne in June of 2017, explores the mutual impact of LGBTQIA-related political legislation and the performing arts, especially in regards to North Carolina's HB2. Her secondary research involves contemporary dramatic literature and the Appalachian identity. More information on Professor White can be found at here.
Karen is originally from Rockville, Maryland but Raleigh has been her home since 2000. She went to Meredith College and is a Recruiter at a software company in Cary. She loves Emerald Isle, traveling, animals (especially Labradors), and is excited to be working with the Young Democrats of Wake County to make a difference in her community and nationwide.
Shaun grew up in Raleigh and has called the area home off and on since age 5. After attending many excellent public schools in Wake County, Shaun pursued a political science and economics degree in from American University in Washington, DC and graduated from Chapman University School of Law in Orange, California. Shaun currently resides in Raleigh where he runs a small law practice focusing on criminal defense and securities/investment fraud litigation. He likes animals, fried rice, and taking imaginary vacations.
Mac is currently a student at NC State where he will graduate this upcoming December with a BA in Political Science. He is originally from Charlotte but Raleigh has won him over. When he is not helping with Young Democrats he can be found inside the General Assembly as an intern for Senator Wiley Nickel. On top of this Mac is currently studying for the LSAT and hopes to attend law school in the Fall of 2020.
Michael works in higher education at UNC Chapel Hill. He holds an M.Ed. from Clemson University and a B.A. in History from Furman University. Born in Chicago, he has spent a lot of time visiting and living in the Carolinas. Outside of work, he advises student organizations at NC State, is on the board of the Alumni Network in the Triangle, and enjoys trying new foods, catching a movie, or exploring and traveling to new places. He is excited to join the Young Democrats and support the efforts to engage more young people in the political process around the area.
Genna is an Assistant Director of New Student Programs at NC State University. She holds a MED from the University of Georgia and a BA University of South Florida. A Raleigh transplant, in her spare time she enjoys exploring the triangle's foodie scene, and taking in shows at DPAC. She is excited to be working with the Young Democrats as an At-Large Board Member and to support the organization's efforts to mobilize young people in our community.
Zach is an Assistant Attorney General with the North Carolina Department of Justice. He holds a BA in Political Science and History from UNC, as well as a JD from the UNC School of Law. Other than his time in Chapel Hill, he is a lifelong Raleigh resident, and he and his wife live near North Hills. Beyond working with the Young Democrats, he is the chair of his voting precinct, volunteers with the Wake County Bar Association, and serves as a deacon and youth chaperone with his church.
Matthew Williams is a lifelong North Carolinian. He grew up in Cary, graduating from Cary High School. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from NC State University, where he currently works as an Assistant Director in Alumni Relations. Outside of work, he serves on the NC State Recent Grad Philanthropy Council and as the Treasurer for the LGBTQ Democrats of Wake County. He currently resides in Raleigh.
Alicia is a graduate of North Carolina State University from Gastonia, North Carolina. She became a member of Wake County Young Democrats in 2016 and is an active member within her community. As former Vice Chair of precinct 18-06, former At-Large Member and Vice President of Wake YD, and an active member of multiple democratic campaigns, Alicia has dedicated a significant portion of her time towards advancing the state of North Carolina. In her free time, Alicia enjoys the beach, reading, writing, and spending time with her dog, Browne.
